Recreation Program

Hi Black Pointers – I am very excited for the upcoming summer in Black Point and the 2024 BPBCA Rec Program, affectionately known as “Club.” There are some changes this year as Nadia has moved on to fulfill her career goals. We wish her the best and are forever grateful for her contributions to the program.  We were lucky enough to hire a wonderful Director who is excited to put his extensive experience to work in BP. Matt is a current teacher in East Lyme and former Program Director at a day camp in Killingworth for the past 20 years – BP will certainly benefit from his experience!  We are also excited to announce that two former Club-goers and Counselors will be joining the staff as Junior Directors – Finn and Kate – in addition to a wonderful group of counselors and volunteers, it’s sure to be a fun summer.

The Rec Program is meant to be self-sustaining (as opposed to prior years where the Association had to make up for Rec Program shortages).  Any funds not used for staffing and supplies during the Club season are used to make improvements to the Clubhouse facility that benefit Club-goers (in some cases in conjunction with Association funds, please see BOG meeting minutes for specifics).  This year, the facility improvements include two new playground pieces – a monster truck and a jeep, new basketball hoops with adjustable heights so the younger kids can play, a bottle filler to eliminate use of plastic cups for water, and a multi-use court where Club-goers can play volleyball and pickleball.

To encourage use of the new bottle filler, Club-goers will receive an aluminum water bottle when they sign up for Club. As always, cleaning of the water bottles is the responsibility of the Club-goers caregivers.

We will also sell t-shirts that are similar to those worn by Club staff – t-shirts are a soft cotton/polyester blend and will be a light gray color. If interested, please fill out this google form: https://forms.gle/szr1WebpkhWXb8mk9

Parent shirts are $25 and Kids shirts are $20. Any net proceeds from these sales will be given to the volunteers.

The logo for this year is:

Matt can be reached at bpclubdirector@gmail.com with any questions from caregivers with kids participating in Club.

Looking forward to a great summer!
